The Somers Library Foundation Community Used Book Sale is fast approaching.
After a long delay, we are excited to bring this event back to the Somers Library. We have collected thousands. We will start setting up on Sunday, 17 October where we will move the many thousands of gently used books generously donated by our community into the library.
Remember our goal for the sale is to raise money for our library and to ensure that all of the generously donated books, movies, and music find a new home.
We will sort and stage the books in the Program and Reading Rooms from Monday, 18 Oct through Friday, 22 Oct during normal library hours. We have lots of roles and we ask that you volunteer for at least a 2 hour shift. You can see the roles and shift details here. If you want to volunteer to assist with this sale, please contact the Somers Library Foundation using our Contact Page.
The sale will occur (as shown on the image above) on Friday, 22 Oct through Sunday, 24 Oct.
- Friday, 22 October, 4- 8 PM: We will start with a Preview Sale on Friday evening from 4 – 8 PM. You can get into the sale before it opens to the public. There is an admission fee of $25 to attend the Preview Sale. Gold and Silver sponsors of the 5K Trail Race are entitled to free admission to the Preview Sale for up to 10 employees, family and friends. Please send an email to email@example.com if you are a Gold or Silver sponsor and want to enable your waived Preview admission fee.
- Saturday, 23 October, 10 AM – 5 PM: The sale is open for free to the public. We will be offering a “Buy the Bag” option. For $20, you can purchase a Foundation reusable fabric bag, then fill it with as many books of any type that you can fit (and still carry) at no additional charge. If you do not want to purchase the bag, you can purchase any books at the marked price.
- Sunday, 24 October, 11 AM – 4 PM: Again, the sale is open for free to the public. We will again be offering the “Buy the Bag” option. If you do not want to purchase the bag, you can purchase any books at the marked price.
After the sale, we need to return the Library’s Program and Reading Rooms to normal operations on Monday, 25 Oct so any remaining books will need to be removed from the Library. Our goal is to find homes for as many of these generously donated books. So if you are a charitable organization and wish to have a selection of leftover books, please get in touch with the Foundation at our email, firstname.lastname@example.org or leave a message on the Foundation phone number, (914) 361-9979 before the sale so we can make the necessary arrangements for pick-up or local delivery.
We look forward to seeing you all at the Community Book Sale. There is sure to be a book for everyone. Remember books, movies, and music make great gifts and can take your friends and family on adventures, enrich their lives, and help them learn new things.
